Module 4: Health Promotion & Wellness
A significant part of my community rotation was dedicated to developing and delivering a health promotion presentation, using evidence-based research to guide the process. I utilized the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) database to identify a major health issue relevant to my target audience, which informed the focus of my educational materials.
As part of this module, I completed my Health Promotion Presentation (HPP), which I delivered on the final day of my rotation at The Wright Center for Community Services. My project focused on educating healthcare workers about improving eating habits despite demanding schedules, and I developed supporting tools such as grocery lists, sample recipes, and meal preparation tips. This process reinforced the importance of clear communication and cultural sensitivity when educating diverse groups, especially within a professional healthcare environment.
